Date and Walnut Loaf Cake Recipe
Healthy date and walnut tea loaf cake made from simple ingredients and no sugar! Natural sweetness from dates and delicious walnuts
This lovely tea loaf recipe is healthy enough to serve for breakfast, with only 200 calories per slice!
Dates are already delicious, but soaking them in hot tea for a few minutes intensifies their flavour.
Add the chopped walnuts, egg and cinnamon and stir together, before adding the flour so that everything distributes evenly.
The cake batter for this loaf is quite a thick batter so you'll need to keep stirring to combine and then smooth it over when you scrape it into your loaf tin.
It's easiest to use baking paper to line your loaf tin.
Bake for an hour, it's difficult to test this cake by inserting a skewer because the dates will still be quite moist after baking, but 1 hour on a low heat will be enough.
It's beautiful spread with butter while still warm! Or toasted later, with cream cheese. You can serve it hot or cold.
See how crammed with dates this cake is.
I hope you enjoy this recipe!

Have to say this is the best loaf the only thing I changed was used coffee instead of tea just to give it the taste of coffee and walnut. Love it so much.
