Walnut and Date Scones Recipe
Easy walnut and date scones recipe, sweetened naturally for a wholesome treat bursting with nutty flavour and goodness! Simple and delicious.

Walnuts and dates are an amazing combination! I can't get enough of the toffee-caramel flavour of dates. Especially Medjool dates!
There's no need for any added sweeteners in this date and walnut scone recipe.

Chop up the dates and walnuts to around 1/2 a cm in size, so they'll easily distribute evenly in the scone dough.

This scone recipe works great with either oat milk or dairy milk.

Add in the liquids first, the melted butter, milk and vinegar then the walnuts, dates and a pinch of salt.
Melting the butter rather than rubbing in means clean hands!
Using baking soda (bicarb / bicarbonate of soda) and vinegar in addition to the self-raising flour results in extra rise leading to beautiful fluffy scones.

Tip in the flour and baking soda, combining into a soft dough.

Sprinkle a little flour onto your work surface and roll out your scone dough to about 1 cm thick.

Cut out rounds using a glass or cookie cutter.
Mine is about 7 cm in diameter so I got exactly 10 scones from this scone recipe.

Line a baking tray with baking paper and bake at gas mark 7 for 15 minutes, until slightly golden brown.

The walnuts and dates smell delicious.
Allow your scones to cool and serve simply spread with butter or a slice of cheddar cheese!

Perfect with a cup of tea in the afternoon, very British :)
These scones are so simple, you'll be making them again and again.
They will happily keep for at least a week in an airtight container.

I hope you enjoy these sugar free walnut and date scones!
