Homemade Healthy Sugar Free Salad Dressing Recipe
This homemade, healthy salad dressing recipe is easy and delicious without sugar
Finding a sugar-free salad dressing can be a challenge for those on a diabetic or sugar-free diet.
Many diabetic options claim to be healthy, but often contain artificial sweeteners. The good news is that you can easily make a delicious and healthy sugar-free salad dressing at home without much effort.
To make this dressing, focus on sourcing high-quality ingredients. Apple cider vinegar is a key base ingredient due to its slightly sweet and less potent nature.
It not only adds a pleasant colour to the dressing but also offers potential health benefits, including the ability to lower blood sugar and contribute to weight loss.
Olive oil is another essential ingredient part of the Mediterranean diet known for its rich flavour and numerous health benefits, such as fighting inflammation and reducing the risk of heart disease. Invest in good-quality olive oil for the best results.
Mayonnaise is used to create a creamy texture in the dressing, helping it stay on top of the salad leaves without making them soggy.
Making your own homemade sugar-free mayonnaise is simple and ensures you avoid added sugars and artificial sweeteners.
You'll often find sugar free mayonnaise in diabetic friendly salad dressing recipes because so most low-fat mayo contains sugar, which is unhelpful for diabetics!
Garlic, whether in powder or fresh form, adds a wonderful flavor to the dressing. Feel free to use more than suggested for an enhanced taste.
Basil, with its strong aroma, is a distinctive herb commonly used in Italian recipes.
It not only enhances the flavor but also offers various health benefits, including aiding digestion and providing antioxidants.
Thyme, with its delicate and subtle aroma, adds even more depth to the dressing.
Fresh thyme is preferred, as it infuses its flavour better than dried thyme. It also has many health benefits, even used as a medicine throughout history.
Parsley, though bitter on its own, balances and enhances other flavours in the recipe
Combined with garlic and softer herbs, parsley contributes to a flavourful dressing.
Oregano, with its aromatic and earthy flavour, is a versatile herb popular in Italian and French cuisine.
Dried oregano works well for most people, adding maturity and a unique flavour to the dressing.
Lemon juice brings tartness and sharpness to balance the earthy elements in the dressing, making it more vibrant.
Parmesan cheese, known for its nutty and melty taste, adds a creamy softness to the dressing. Grated into the mix, it significantly enhances the overall flavour.
Making this sugar-free salad dressing is easy. Simply combine the ingredients and shake well.
The result is a delicious and healthy dressing that you can enjoy without worrying about added sugars. Feel free to experiment with the ingredients to find the perfect balance for your taste.
